LATEST REMOTE WEAPON STATION DESKTOP TRAINER DEPLOYMENTS

In one of the largest orders of our Remote Weapon Station (RWS) Desktop Trainer units to date, AVS recently deployed 50 individual units to the Australian Army for utilisation in five training locations across the country.

RWS Desktop Trainer units ready to be shipped.

The Remote Weapon Station (RWS) Desktop Trainer is a fully self-contained operator trainer for the R-400 Series Remote Weapon Station produced by AVS in partnership with Electro Optic Systems. It allows operator level training to be conducted in a classroom environment, reducing reliance on the operational equipment and greatly accelerating skills acquisition and learning retention by enabling all operator functions, from startup / shutdown to fault finding, boresighting and zeroing to be taught via an engaging and interactive classroom-based system. The system also features a library of engagement scenarios, allowing for trainees to practice the various methods of engagement prior to live fire.

This deployment forms a small part of Army’s ongoing Future Ready Training System and Martin Carr from AVS noted “In some instances the RWS units were employed to locations that currently operate AVS simulation solutions, however because of their portability – which is one of their major benefits – the new RWS units will be able to be utilised independently from these existing installations.”

The new RWS units were deployed at:

  • Puckapunyal Combined Arms Training Centre

  • Battle Simulation Site Townsville

  • Battle Simulation Site Enoggera

  • Darwin 5RAR

  • Edinburgh 7RAR
