Land Simulation Core 2.0

“The most comprehensive modernisation of simulation technology in the history of the Australian Army.”

Applied Virtual Simulation is proud to have been awarded a contract by the Australian Defence Force to deliver a suite of Common Simulation Software (CSS) and associated technologies to the Australian Army. The project, Land Simulation Core 2.0 Tranche 1 will provide the Army with a suite of CSS for use by future simulators and in simulation-based combined arms training, and forms a core component of Army’s $650 million investment over the next ten years into simulation systems.

LS Core 2.0 will become the base simulation architecture for all future Australian Army simulators and simulation-based training, and it will be a key enabler of the Army’s Future Ready Training System

The Tranche 1 project will run from 1 Feb 2022 to 31 Jan 2025. The project is currently in the Introduction to Service phase, with a focus on implementing the software solution, making required modifications, and delivering the accompanying training.

With the rollout now commissioned, AVS is ready and available to work with your organisation to harness LS Core 2.0 for any current or upcoming simulation projects.

About Land Simulation Core 2.0:

Land Simulation Core 2.0 Tranche 1 provides a customised, single simulation software solution for the Australian Army to train the soldiers of the future. The LS Core 2.0 platform will allow land-based forces to train and learn together in ways that they have not been able to do before.

Key Features

  • Allows soldiers to train together whether they are using a simulator in a barracks environment or deployed to a field training area

  • Hundreds of 3D models and mapping of thousands of square kilometres of real-world terrain

  • State of the art graphics for the most immersive simulation experience

  • Cloud-based access ensures access is not constrained to physical sites

  • Flexible and scalable opportunities for self-directed and just-in-time training.

Key Benefits

  • Customised, single suite of simulation software applications

  • “Architecture First” approach which places the Australian Generic Simulation Architecture (GSimA) as the central guiding framework

  • Harnesses the best applications available from around the world including US based MAK technologies and UK based SimCentric

  • Delivers unprecedented levels of interconnectivity, enabling soldiers from all corps to train together in complex combined arms scenarios

  • Improves the delivery of training and technical support

  • Elements of this cutting-edge simulation technology is already applied in Navy and Airforce applications both within Australia and globally

  • The solution will provide a more direct and seamless integration with training and simulation with US Forces

  • For those within DoD, software licences have already been negotiated and are in place.

AVS is here to help navigate the LS Core 2.0 requirements for your simulation project. Our in-house, Australian-based team has some of the the best simulation capability and experience in the country. Our team contains members with lived experience of having been part of the defence force and completing many training simulations.
