Protected Mobility Tactical Trainer

PMTT: Train Real, Fight Real – Empowering the Modern Soldier

The PMTT is a state-of-the-art training system designed for operators of the Australian Army’s Protected Mobility Vehicles (PMVs). It provides a scalable, accessible, and highly effective platform for training soldiers in vehicle operations, tactics, techniques and procedures.

PMTT: Driving the future of military training.

What is a Protected Mobility Tactical Trainer:

The Protected Mobility Tactical Trainer (PMTT) is a cutting-edge training system used by the Australian Army to help soldiers learn how to operate and manage a range of military vehicles, including the Bushmaster, Hawkei, HX Series Trucks, and logistics vehicles like the G-Wagon. It allows soldiers to practice real-life scenarios, such as planning and executing missions, in a safe and controlled environment.

What does it do:

The PMTT creates realistic simulations, where soldiers can train as vehicle drivers, commanders, and gunners, helping them develop key skills in vehicle handling, tactics, and communication. It can simulate a wide variety of vehicles and environments, making the training as immersive as possible.

The system is scalable and can train multiple vehicles and crews at once, and it integrates with other military training systems, making it flexible and adaptable for various training needs. The PMTT is used at several Army training locations, training over 1,000 soldiers a year, with plans to expand its capabilities.

Key Features:

  • Realistic Training: Conduct full mission scenarios, from orders to execution and after-action reviews, with up to five vehicles per system.

  • Interoperability: Seamlessly connects with other simulation systems via HLA (High-Level Architecture) and DIS (Distributed Interactive Simulation).

  • Diverse Vehicle Simulation: Simulates a wide range of vehicles and subsystems in various tactical and operational environments.

  • Immersive Experience: Offers realistic physical motion simulations, enhancing training for drivers, vehicle commanders, and gunners.

Current Training Locations:

  • Army School of Transport, Tobruk Barracks, Puckapunyal, VIC

  • 5th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, Robertson Barracks, Darwin, NT

  • Battle Simulation Site, Enoggera, QLD

  • Battle Simulation Site, Townsville, QLD

  • Army Logistics Training Centre, Bandiana, VIC

Annual Impact:

The PMTT delivers training to over 1,000 soldiers every year, and its capabilities are expanding to additional locations within the Army, providing a flexible, accessible, and future-ready training solution.
