Advanced Joint Fires Observer Trainer

The Advanced Joint Fires Observer Trainer (A-JFOT) is the pre-eminent simulation based Forward Observer Training system currently in use today.

Operational at the Malaysian School of Artillery at Camp Gemas, Malaysia, this system leverages key partnerships with SimCentric and SARAZU SDN BHD to provide Artillery Forward Observers (AFOs) with an innovative and scalable training solution.

Powered by SAF-TAC, A-JFOT allows for multiple simultaneous collective training activities for both AFOs and Artillery Officers within a purpose-built simulated training environment. The integrated AVS Virtual Binoculars provide AFOs with a simple and cost effective solution to visualise the virtual environment and conduct accurate call-for-fire missions either by sight or using the integrated laser range finder.

Using an integrated low-cost audio solution, AFOs can interact with each other and the system administrator to coordinate fire missions and execute those missions on designated targets. With the implementation of SAFFIRES, AFOs can relay real time information in NATO standard format to replicate realistic training scenarios and aid in the development of critical communications skills.

As a scalable solution, A-JFOT can provide training to 16 concurrent students. The system is currently deployed in the following configuration:

  1. Student Stations: 8 Students, 8 Officers

  2. Instructor Station: 1 Instructor

  3. Administrator Station: 1 Administrator
