What is the Advanced Joint Fires Observer Trainer (A-JFOT)?

The Advanced Joint Fires Observer Trainer (A-JFOT) is a simulation-based training system designed to train Artillery Forward Observers (AFOs) and Artillery Officers in coordinating and executing fire missions. It provides a scalable and immersive environment where multiple trainees can participate in realistic, collective training activities. The system uses AVS Virtual Binoculars for visualization, enabling trainees to conduct accurate call-for-fire missions, either by sight or with an integrated laser range finder.

Key Features:

  • Simultaneous Training: Supports multiple collective training activities for AFOs and Officers.

  • Integrated AVS Virtual Binoculars: Allows realistic environment visualization and accurate call-for-fire missions.

  • SAFFIRES Integration: Real-time communication and NATO standard information exchange to enhance realism.

  • Scalable Training: Accommodates up to 16 students in a single training session

Key Benefits:

  • Cost-effective and Scalable: Ideal for training multiple personnel at once with a minimal investment in physical equipment.

  • Realistic Fire Mission Execution: Enables accurate coordination and communication for real-time mission execution.

  • Effective Communication Skills Development: Focuses on building critical communication skills through integrated audio solutions.

Configuration:

As a scalable solution, A-JFOT can provide training to 16 concurrent students. The system is currently deployed in the following configuration:

  1. Student Stations: 8 Students, 8 Officers

  2. Instructor Station: 1 Instructor

  3. Administrator Station: 1 Administrator

Operational at the Malaysian School of Artillery at Camp Gemas, Malaysia, this system leverages key partnerships with SimCentric and SARAZU SDN BHD to provide Artillery Forward Observers (AFOs) with an innovative and scalable training solution.
