AVS to present a Prime Perspective on Land Simulation Core 2.0 at AusTsec 2022

Applied Virtual Simulation (AVS) Director Martin Carr will present a Prime Perspective on Land Simulation Core 2.0 on day 2 of the Australian Training, Simulation and Education Conference (AusTsec) at LAND FORCES 2022.

Land Simulation Core 2.0 is described as the most comprehensive modernisation of simulation technology in the history of the Australian Army. It will provide a suite of Common Simulation Software (CSS) for use by future simulators and in simulation-based combined arms training, and forms a core component of Army’s $650 million investment over the next ten years into simulation systems.

AVS was awarded a contract earlier this year for Tranche 1 of the project which runs from 1 Feb 2022 to 31 Jan 2025. The project is currently in the Introduction to Service phase, with a focus on implementing the software solution, making required modifications, and delivering the accompanying training. Martin will provide the latest on the first deployments of Land Simulation Core 2.0 during his presentation at AusTsec and the software will also be on display on the AVS stand 4G20 in Hall 4.

Martin founded AVS in 2016. As a former Army officer and simulation technology expert Martin wanted to fulfil a need for integrated training simulation systems within the Australian Defence Force.

“I was a cavalry officer, and I used my knowledge as a trained officer to design simulators to achieve training outcomes that I would have wanted and saw were required,” he says.

He puts the company’s success down to having an intimate understanding of what the customer needs and taking commercial technology that is available and using it to defence’s benefit.

"AVS has been shaped by innovation from a diverse range of sources, including advanced manufacturing techniques, 3D printing, and ongoing advances in consumer technologies such as AR, VR and gaming" says Martin.
